Enter Duo Cichorium’s Playscape Emporium, a six-part series built around storytelling through cross-disciplinary collaboration. Each event in the series will feature a distinct artistic medium, blending music, dance, theater, visual art, poetry, puppetry, and video games. Duo Cichorium and their guest artists will craft unique narratives that blend their creative styles, resulting in unpredictable and engaging performances.
What if life is just a dream? Would we be amazed at our own existence? Would we discover there is no master narrative, no single version of ourselves, but many? Would we be the dreamers and the nightmares?” The Angela Blumberg Dance Company confronts these questions with The Great Dream for 4 dancers, scored by Domenic Clarke. Following Blumberg’s choreographed work will be a free form performance of improvised dance and music, featuring the entourage of dancers in both solo and ensemble settings. Providing music for this are Duo Cichorium and Toronto-based improvised music ensemble Teething, a sextet of improvisers that blend vocal and instrumental performance with electronics, centering active-listening and exploration. Finally, visual artist Adrian Berry (Gold Cove) will provide reactive visuals to be projected during the performance.
